Our Favorite Baby Seat

The number of baby products out there on the market can be overwhelming. New products come out almost daily, and there seem to be so many conflicting opinions about which products are best, the safest, and the most practical/convenient.

As a pediatric physical therapist, I look at products through the lens of how it might impact physical development and attainment of motor skills. As a mom, I look for products that are practical, easy to clean, and easily portable from my place to my parents’ place when they watch my little guy.

Things I love about the Upseat:

It’s multifunctional:

  • I can use it on the floor to help my little guy develop the head and trunk control he needs for sitting. We started putting Theo in this when he was 4 months old, and it made a huge difference in developing his endurance for being upright.

  • I can put toys on the tray to help him develop his reaching/grasping skills. Suction toys easily stick to the smooth tray surface!

  • I can use it as a booster seat when he joins us at the dinner table. This is how we use our Upseat most! Theo doesn’t quite have enough trunk control to sit up on his highchair yet, but the Upseat provides him with just enough support to sit with upright posture as he learns to eat solids.

It’s super portable:

I can bring it anywhere I need to around the house, or I can use it when I bring Theo to the office. The Upseat has been able to fit most seats we’ve tried. It has come with us to almost every family dinner and outing with friends!

It was developed with hip safety in mind:

  • The wide legs are way less restrictive than other chairs and allow more freedom of movement.

  • Legs are positioned apart for healthy hip development.

  • It provides an anterior pelvic tilt to allow for more upright sitting, which means I don’t need to worry about baby’s alignment.

We have used our Upseat everyday since Theo turned 4 months old. It has really been a lifesaver!
